Pyrolysis kinetics of wildland vegetation using model-fitting methods

Slow-heating pyrolysis experiments of 14 plant species native to forests in the southern United States were conducted a TGA find kinetic parameters for slow all live and air-dried samples. Kinetic coefficients determined from data using model-fitting methods, resulting single entire process which can be used by wildland fire modelers. The model forms explored here are simple one-step multiple reaction distributed activation energy (DAE) models. mass loss derivative fitted simultaneously at heating rates 10, 20, 30 °C min−1 these forms. multiple-reaction DAE gave best fit when peaks observed. attributed decomposition hemicellulose, cellulose, lignin, based on literature observations biomass. order energies indicated that hemicellulose extractives decompose more readily than cellulose finally lignin.
